Reverend commits suicide after impregnating married maid

A Zimbabwean Reverend Menard Zvenyika has reportedly committed suicide after allegedly impregnating his married housemaid three times and fathering her baby.

Zvenyika was due to appear before a disciplinary hearing of his church with a $10,000 fine slammed on him by a local court in Zimbabwe.

However, apparently unable to stomach his sinful act, and possible excommunication from the church, he decided to end his own life by drinking poison.

Reports say the fiery Man of God was involved in an extra marital affair with Rosemary Nyamukachi wife of Forty-two-year-old Chezhira Mukobvu which resulted in several pregnancies.

The couple have been married for 17 years and the clergy took advantage of the woman who was working for him to put her in the family way

The “35-year-old woman was employed as a housemaid in the home of Zvenyika for about 5 years, during which time she had allegedly been forced to terminate three pregnancies fathered by the reverend before finally giving birth to a son.

“Assistant Inspector Nkululeko Nduna said on the telephone that he could neither confirm nor deny the report about the adulterous relationship of Zvenyika, because he was not in the office in the moment” according to NewZimbabwe.com.

However, the online newspaper did reach family members who claimed that the reverend had died on his way to the clinic in Bikita after he had swallowed poison at his home.

According to their source, the reverend had a lot of pressure mounting on him because he was supposed to appear before a disciplinary hearing of the church and the evidence against him was overwhelming.

Moderator of the church, Reverend Dr. Rangarirai Rutoro, said that although he could confirm the demise of Zvenyika, he couldn’t confirm the circumstances because he didn’t want to usurp the family’s rights to tell their version of the story.

Mukobvu testified in court that the adulterous relationship between his wife and Zvenyika had destroyed their marriage and his wife was willing to testify in court as to the accuracy of his statements.

He claimed the reverend should compensate him for the damage caused to his marriage and the intimate relations his wife had refused him because of her affair with the reverend.
