Suspect in OKlahoma Beheading Tried to Convert Coworkers to Islam

Witnesses say the suspect in an Oklahoma workplace beheading had been trying to convert his coworkers to Islam before the fatal attack.

Authorities have released 911 calls made as 30-year-old Alton Nolen beheaded one woman and stabbed a second.

Police say Nolen was fired from his job at Vaughan Foods, then took a car, drove around to the front of the business, ran into another vehicle, and then walked into the front office with a produce knife. They say he began stabbing 54-year-old Colleen Hufford before beheading her. Then, he stabbed 43-year-old Traci Johnson.

Authorities say Mark Vaughan, the CFO and a reserve county deputy, then jumped into action, shooting Nolen.

It is still very unclear whether Nolen’s beliefs in Islam played a role, but it appears the victims were not specifically targeted.

Nolen went to prison for assaulting a state trooper after a 2010 traffic stop, then leading police on a 12-hour manhunt through the woods.

The suspect and second victim are in the hospital in stable condition
