Three soldiers, boat driver killed in fresh pirates attack in Bayelsa
Also, the driver of the civilian boat conveying the soldiers was not spared by the hoodlums.
The soldiers, it was learned, were killed Tuesday, few days after three others lost their lives in similar attack along Santa Barbara, a notorious river in Nembe, Nembe Local Government Area of the state.
In the previous attack, along Santa Barbara on Sunday evening, the hoodlums were said to have hijacked a military gunboat used by the victims to escort items from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to Brass terminal owned by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC.
It was learned that before the JTF’s search-and-rescue team could recover the bodies of the Brass-bound soldiers, gunmen launched a fresh attack on soldiers, this time at Azagbene in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state.
Sources told Vanguard that a boat conveying the soldiers to their routine duties in the area came under attack at 11.30a.m., on Tuesday.
According to a source, who did not want to be named, the hoodlums carted away the soldiers’ rifles and ammunition.
