Adamawa Police Uncover 19 Bombs Inside Bush

Nineteen giant bombs have been discovered by the Adamawa state police.

According to the police, the bombs were found hidden in a bush in the state, Punch reports.

It was gathered that the bombs were ready to be detonated by suspected suicide bombers in some strategic places of the state capital.

When contacted, the state’s Police Commissioner, Gabriel Adeji, confirmed the bomb-haul in Yola.

ThisDay reports that the police CP said the bombs were uncovered inside the bush of Song Local Government area of the state following an intelligence report.

He noted that the police had been trailing the activities of the insurgents following media reports last week that some suspected members of the Boko Haram sect were planning to bomb the state capital.

On Thursday, February 5, they got a hint from an informant on the whereabouts of the bombs.

He added that the bombs had the capacity to bring down a ten storey building and also kill several people.

According to him, the insurgents were planning to bomb the River Benue bridge, which is linking the state capital and the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola and Mubi area.

Adeji therefore called the people of Adamawa to thank God for saving them from the tragedy that would have befallen them.

Recall that about two weeks back, residents of Hong local government of Adamawa State had urged the Federal Government and well-meaning Nigerians to assist their community, which has been nearly ‘destroyed’ by the Boko Haram insurgents.
