Signs of political interference in Nigerian election - US, UK

(AP) — The United States and Britain say there are signs that the final count for Nigeria's presidential election is being subverted by "deliberate political interference."

A joint statement says the countries would be "very concerned" by any attempts to undermine the independence of the electoral commission and distort the will of the Nigerian people.

It comes as the start of the collation of votes was delayed without explanation from a scheduled noon (1100 GMT) start on Monday.
