Two PDP Cheiftains Assassinated in Rivers

Unknown gunmen on Saturday night shot and killed two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ibima Olunta and Mr. Goodfellow Bobmanuel, in Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It was gathered that Olunta, who is the chairman of PDP Ward 2, Abonnema, and Bobmanuel, who is a PDP councillorship aspirant for Ward 2, Abonnema, were sitting in front of their houses in the community, when the gunmen struck.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Ahmad Kadiya Muhammad, could not confirm the development, as he said he was out of the state, and had not been briefed about such attack.

Reacting to the development, Chairman of PDP in the state, Chief Felix Obuah, alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akuku-Toru local government area of the state were behind the dastardly act.

Obuah, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, condoled with the families of the deceased and members of the PDP in Abonnema, and urged them to remain calm as the party would ensure that all those behind the killings are fished out and prosecuted.
