Customs refutes lifting ban on furniture importation

The Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, yesterday, refuted media reports that the Federal Government has lifted the ban on the importation of furniture into the country.

Debunking the media report, Assistant Comptroller-General, Zone A of the NCS, Victor Gbemudu, described the report as false, adding that he was quoted out of context.

Gbemudu, however advised importers, their agents and freight forwarders to refer to the import guidelines, which stated that the ban on furniture is still in force, adding that “Please note that primarily, the Nigerian Customs Service statutorily enforces government fiscal policies while also ensuring trade facilitation at no loss of government revenue.”
