Otti Vs Ikpeazu On Abia Tribunal Update 17th August, 2015
Just like we earlier stated today in our first post on this gubernatorial tribunal matter, today so far has been very dynamic as both the petitioner and the 3 respondents fought hard to prove their points and case.
At the resumption of court today, the first issue that arose was the documents which the petitioner want to tender as evidence, the 3 respondents raised objections to the said documents and their objections was based on certification of the petitioners document.
The respondents argued that the documents were not certified as expected by INEC, but the petitioners lawyer Prof. Awa Kalu countered their position and stated that the documents were certified as stipulated by the electoral act.
After the arguments, the tribunal judges took time off to go through all the arguments and deliver their ruling.
At the return of the judges, THEY RULED THAT THE SAID DOCUMENT IS VALID AND WELL CERTIFIED . THE DOCUMENT WAS LABELED PB-01.
Immediately after the ruling, the petitioners lawyer tendered another document which the respondents also objected to, but the petitioners lawyer drew the attention of the tribunal judges to an agreement between the lawyers to submit objections to documents in their final address.
All the lawyers agreed to the said agreement.
Petitioners lawyer then went ahead to present documents of Ward 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10, all of Ugwunagbo Local Government Area. They were all accepted as evidence and filed accordingly.
Olanipekun (SAN) for 1st Respondent, Ananaba (SAN) for 2nd Respondent, Ikpeazu for 2nd Respondent, Levi for 3rd Respondent, were all present.
The court is on break now…
